About Me

My name is John Nevel.

I am a U.S. Army war veteran. I spent a year deployed in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003-2004. I spent 4 years in the military, earning the Army Commendation, Army Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary, and Global War on Terrorism Service medals.

I am an author of poetry. Rod Serling is my favorite author of all time. I also enjoy Edgar Allan Poe, Nicholas Sparks, Maya Angelou, Stephen King, and Bentley Little to name a few. I enjoy writing poetry that feeds the imagination. Poetry that is inspired by my life's journey, current events, and feelings and emotions that fill me on a daily basis.

My biggest hobby besides writing is track and field. I am an athlete and a coach. Since 2016, I have won 2 National championships, 6 Mid America Regional championships, 4 state championships, 3 Rocky Mountain State Games championships, 1 All American Award, and have placed Top 25 in the United States thirteen times. I compete in many master's track and field meet's every year in the Colorado area, and have competed in 12 different events, but I specialize in the triple jump.

Welcome to my imagination, and I hope you enjoy your visit.
